How to find importers in the UAE and Dubai

Where UAE buyer lists come from, why Dubai is different, and how to tell an end buyer from a re-exporter.

To find importers in the UAE, combine chamber and free zone directories, your embassy's commercial section, sector trade fairs in Dubai, B2B marketplaces and direct research on company websites. There is no official public list of importers with their purchases. And because Dubai is a re-export hub, many "importers" buy to resell across the region: knowing which kind of buyer you want changes the list and the offer.

End buyers, distributors and re-exporters

A UAE list mixes three kinds of company:

Each needs a different first email. A re-exporter cares about price, volume and payment terms; a distributor about margins and exclusivity; an end buyer about specification, certification and delivery. Decide which you are after before you build the list.

Checking a UAE company in ten minutes

  1. What does the website sell? Product pages and brands carried say more than the "about" page.
  2. Where does it sell? "GCC", "Africa" or a list of countries on the site usually means a re-exporter or regional distributor.
  3. Does it carry foreign brands in your category? A sign it buys from abroad.
  4. Is it the right size? Showrooms, branches and project references are clues.
  5. Who decides? In family-run trading companies it is often the owner or a partner; in groups, a category or procurement manager.

Outfound runs this check for every candidate: it keeps the companies that fit with the reason and a source link, finds the decision-maker and writes the first email in the buyer's language.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a public list of importers in the UAE or Dubai?

There is no official public list of importers with their purchases, as there is for sea shipments into the US. Chamber and free zone directories list registered companies, and trade data platforms sell UAE data from their own sources. Ask any seller where its UAE records come from before you buy.

Why do so many Dubai buyers turn out to be traders?

Dubai is a re-export hub. Many companies there buy to resell into the Gulf, Africa, South Asia and Central Asia. That can be a good channel, but it is a different buyer from a retailer or manufacturer who uses the product, and the offer should be different.

Which trade fairs in Dubai matter for exporters?

It depends on the sector: Gulfood for food and beverage, The Big 5 for construction, Automechanika Dubai for automotive parts, Beautyworld Middle East for beauty, INDEX for furniture and interiors. Exhibitor lists are useful, but most exhibitors are sellers.
