I got a "DNS record missing or invalid" warning

A verified record was deleted or changed; once you add it back, campaigns resume on their own.

Outfound automatically checks the DNS records of your connected domains every 30 minutes. If a previously verified record is no longer found, or its value changed, it warns you and pauses the campaigns sending from that domain.

Common causes:

  • The record was deleted or replaced at your DNS provider (for example while moving your website or email service).
  • The domain's nameservers changed and the records were not copied to the new provider.
  • The domain expired or was not renewed.

To fix it:

  1. The campaign's warning shows which record is missing and the value to add. You can also see it in the domain's records on Sending › Domains.
  2. Add the record back at your DNS provider.
  3. Verify with Check now.

If you connected the domain with two NS records, Outfound writes the records itself; a warning that shows several records missing most likely means the NS records were deleted. Then don't add records one by one: add the two NS records back at your DNS provider.

Once the record is fixed, the campaign resumes automatically. Turn on Email Alerts on the DNS check page to get an email next time.
